ISLAMABAD: In a bid to improve its services, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to launch premier service on Independence Day this year.
PIA Spokesman Danyal Gillani has said that the service would be initiated on some of the domestic routes and a few of the international routes initially. He said, “However, the airline is in the process of finalising the modalities and I will only be in a position to divulge into the details once these are finalised,” he said.
He said that PIA was negotiating with Sri Lankan Airlines for the lease of four A-330 aircrafts. PIA had advertised for leasing wide body aircrafts last month and Sri Lanka’s national carrier expressed interest in leasing out its four new wide body A-330 aircrafts to PIA. Therefore a high-level team of PIA led by CEO Bernd Hildenbrand recently visited Colombo to inspect these aircrafts and to negotiate contract, he said.
