ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan said that the on-going sit-ins and uncertain situation prevailed in the country were causing loss of billions of rupees to the national economy.
“The country’s economy cannot withstand further with the prevailing uncertainty as people from all walks of life are extremely upset due to the political impasses”, the minister.
He said that the key to economic success was in the hand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who through his vision could change the fate of the country. Dastgir recalled that Quaid-i-Azam did not achieve Pakistan through sit-ins but it was the result of strenuous efforts made in a democratic manner.
“Quaid-i-Azam accepted the defeat in 1936-37 elections and instead of protesting and holding sit-ins, got his party prepared for the next elections for nine years and then achieved a landmark victory in 1946 elections,” he added.
He urged both the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) to follow in the footsteps founder of the country.
Dastgir stressed that economy and democracy were interlinked and strong democracy would result in economic prosperity and development.
