Port Qasim provides best standard facilities: Kamran Michael

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael has said that facilities being provided by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) to International Shipping lines and other companies concerned were on par with international standards.

The minister said that the facilities include docks, wharves, quays, stages, mooring, jetties, piers and anchorages by ships. Other facilities include storage of goods, use of any works or appliances to be provided by the Authority, carrying of passengers and their personal effects on vessels belonging to, or hired by the Authority, towing of and rendering assistance to any vessels, tug, or other boat or their equipment, within the limits of the port area or outside those limits for the purpose of saving or protecting life or property, he said.

Moreover, pilot and salvage services will also be rendered by the authority within the port limits on terms especially agreed in each case as regards unabandoned vessels and at the authority’s discretion in the case of abandoned vessels.
