LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued an ordinance after amendment in Revenue Bill 2012 which was expired in December 2015 as the assembly session was not held during the last four months.
According to details, the Punjab government has decided to amend the ordinance of the Punjab Revenue Authority in the Punjab Assembly session. On Tuesday, three ordinances were presented in the Punjab Assembly session.
Sources told Customs Today that the Punjab Revenue Authority ordinance is expected to be submitted in the session on Wednesday of Thursday.
It is necessary to mention here that PRA amendment ordinance was promulgated in January 2016 but it was not approval by the Provincial Assembly.
While on the other hand Lahore High Court declared the functions and collection of taxes by the Authority as illegal. A short order in this regard was issued in last week. Many applicants were moved to court that PRA is not eligible for tax recovery as selection of its members is not as per criteria. After approval by the provincial assembly all question marks of PRA working will get legal cover.
