PRAL refuses to share import data with Directorate of Internal Audit-Customs

KARACHI: The Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) has allegedly refused to share details of import data of consignments with Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs until it gets permission from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs Dr Owais Agha Jawwad directed the department to initiate scrutiny of data pertaining to the steel consignment of the last three years.

The sources said that the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs wrote to the PRAL, but it refused to share information until it gets permission from the FBR.

The sources said that Directorate General of the Internal Audit has now decided to contact the FBR Headquarters to carry out the scrutiny of steel consignments.

It is pertinent to mention here, that the Director General of the Directorate General of Internal Audit received secret information of massive tax evasion in clearance of the steel consignments. The consignments were released by the Customs Appraisement West, Customs Appraisement East and Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim during the last three years.
