KARACHI: The President Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) Muhammad Waseem Hashmi has urged the Finance Ministry to finalize the date of income tax returns up to June 30 instead of September 30 so that the business community could file their tax returns on time.

He expressed these views while talking to Customs Today at his office. Hashmi demanded of the government and Ministry of Finance to allow the adjustments in tax returns for taxpayers through its amnesty scheme.

“Adjustment facility should also be provided to the salaried persons through amnesty scheme in order to expand the tax net”, he further demanded.

President KTBA also urged the government that it should also launch the awareness campaign in connection with tax payment through advertisements on electronic and print media.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Ministry of Finance through its amnesty scheme has provided the facility to non-taxpayers to deposit their tax for last 5 years with the ratio of Rs20, 000 per annum.
