ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister office has approved the summary of appointing Justice (R) Manzoor Malik Hussain as chairman of Customs Appellate Tribunal, it is learnt.
According to details, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had approved the summary of appointing Justice (r) Hussain in exercise of powers conferred by Customs Act, 1969.
Federal Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs is likely to notify the appointment by today. The ministry had appointed Justice (r) Manzoor Malik Hussain as chairman of Customs Appellate Tribunal in BP-21.
Sources from the tribunal stated that new chairman would take charge in within couple of days after ministry notified his appointment.
Justice (r) Manzoor Malik has earlier served as Justice of Peshawar High Court. He got retired from provincial apex court during May, 2015. Justice Hussain retired after serving at the high court for nearly 25 months.
It is pertinent to mention that office of tribunal’s chairman was lying vacant since last April when former chairman Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti got retired.
A day before the Ministry of Law and Justice had notified appointment of Ziauddin Wazir as Member Technical BS-21 at Customs Appellate Tribunal, Islamabad. The ministry had appointed Ziauddin Wazir as member technical of Bench-I of tribunal’s headquarters in the capital city.
Ministry’s notification further stated that the said appointment was deputation for the period of three years or till he attain the age of superannuation or until further orders whichever is earlier, with effect from the date he assumes charge of the said post.
