Sarwat Tahira leaves for GB to discuss CPEC with customs officials

ISLAMABAD: Customs North Region Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira went on officials visit to Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) where she will hold meeting with customs officials and civil administration to discuss matters regarding China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Customs Deputy Collector Naghma-e-Tahniat is also accompanying to the chief collector as conducting officer for whole visit.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that the chief collector will give guidelines regarding the upcoming CPEC project to the customs officials. She will meet to GB Customs Collector Ali Raza, staff of Sust Customs check post at international Pakistan-China border and staff of Sust Dry Port, the deputy collector added.

The chief collector will also visit Pak-China border, Customs and Immigration Khunjerab, where she will urged the officials to work round the clock in order to facilitate the people those who visit Pakistan and China for different purposes, especially for business purpose. Matters of WeBOC, new Customs Complex at GB will also be reviewed.

She will also discuss about establishment of quarantine facilities, basic office, storage capacity and water treatment facility that is essential in GB for cherry treatment, the deputy collector said, adding that she will also meet with the civil administration of Gilgit-Baltistan and will discuss the matters relating to the civil infrastructure for easing the trade activities. She will meet with GB chief minister on July 21 and GB Police IG on July 22 in order to discuss various matters.

Shahid Jan said that the chief collector and deputy collector will also hold meeting with business community to hear their problems faced by them during the routine matters. The officials will take measures to boost import and export activities.
