Private sector playing vital role in promotion of healthy sports activities: Talal Badar Chaudhary

FAISALABAD: Healthy sports activities are imperative to build a healthy society and in this connection the efforts of the private sector along with government is highly appreciable, said Talal Badar Chaudhary Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Science and Technology.

He was talking to the players during a friendly match played between the senior and junior teams of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) in Iqbal Stadium here.

He said that the sports were included in the long list of departments devolved to the provinces. However, despite of this fundamental change, the Federal government continued to take various steps to encourage the talented sportsmen.

He also appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab government for the promotion of healthy sports activities in this province and said that the role of private sector cannot be ignored in the promotion of healthy sport activities. Underlining the importance of sports, he said that it not only creates discipline in the younger generation but also harness their God gifted qualities enabling them to play their active role in the national uplift. He lauded the efforts of FCCI for making sincere efforts for the promotion of sports and said that other important industrial and commercial organizations should also patronize different sports at different levels.

Earlier, Secretary General FCCI Abid Masood introduced Talal Badar Chaudhary with the senior and junior teams.

Later, the acting President FCCI Rana Sikandar Azam participated in the concluding ceremony of prize distribution. He also presented a trophy to the captain of the winning team Farooq Yusuf.

In his brief address, he told that the FCCI will continue its efforts for the promotion of healthy sports activities in addition to serving its valued members. He assured his full supports in organizing more and more sports competitions.

Secretary General Abid Masood told that the FCCI has played many friendly fixtures with local teams and now we are planning to play friendly matches with other chamber of commerce teams of the country.

Earlier, the senior team playing first gave a target of 238 runs while the junior team was all out for 190 runs during this 25 over match.
