ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice ® Javed Iqbal has said that NAB’s faith is corruption free Pakistan because root-out corruption is part of our faith.
He said that NAB is using all available resources to bring back looted wealth stashed in foreign banks. He said that we focus on case instead of fee. He directed NAB officials to perform their duties honestly, dedicatedly, transparent and purely on merit. He said that now NAB is becoming a national institution who is operating according to law.
He said that due to confidence reposed by general public NAB received 54344 inquiries during last 13 months and after scrutiny 2125 complaints were referred for further verification, 1059 inquiries started and investigations of 302 cases were approved, while 590 corruption references were filed in courts which are being heard nowadays.
NAB chairman said that during the last 13 months an amount of Rs3919.80 million was deposited in the national kitty and NAB arrested 569 people. He said that during 2018. NAB punishment ratio stood 70.8 percent which is an example.
He said that 1219 corruption cases are being heard in different court which involved revenue of Rs895 billion. He directed all regional offices to review and file corruption references in NAB courts on priority basis and keeping in view of merit and transparency.
He strictly directed all investigation officials to conduct investigation purely on merit without harming the dignity and respect of any individual. He said that NAB successfully returning the amount which was looted by corrupt people under fake housing schemes. He said that NAB distributed Rs1 billion among affectees of different housing societies.
He said that a special counter is established at NAB headquarters for businessmen where a director-level official will be present to address their issues.
