KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Tuesday remained bullish as the benchmark 100-index gained 229.35 points to take the tally to 49859.39 points level at closing.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 49920.26 points and lowest level of 49630.04 points, with the volume of over 397.22 million shares and value of Rs 17.28 billion. As many as 393 companies were active; of which 235 advanced, 142 declined and 16 remained unchanged.
Lotte Chemical was the volume leader with 50.317 million shares, adding Rs 0.65 to finish at Rs 11.10. It was followed by TRG Pak Ltd with 26.43 million shares, adding Rs 1.67 to end at Rs 62.88 and Power Cement with 19.43 million shares, gaining Rs 1.00 to close at Rs 16.57.
The top three gainers were Sanofi-Aventis with price per share of 2778.15 (132.29), Abbott Lab with price per share of 1063.16 (50.62) and Packages Ltd share of 881.95 (25.50).
The top three losers were Wyeth Pak Ltd with price per share of 4571.00 (-102.40), Hinopak Motor with price per share of 1706.67 (-43.33) and Pak Tobacco per share of 1200 (-38.99).
Earlier, the stocks opened keeping previous day’s bullish note and gained 127 points to reach 49757 points level in early trading. The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued upward rally till midday as the benchmark 100-index added 261 points to take the tally to 49891 points level.
On Monday, positive sentiments prevailed at PSX resultantly the shares index on first trading day rallied 74.21 points to close at 49,630 points. The bourse witnessed positive sentiment during the day to touch intraday high of 49,739 points by adding 186 points. However, some profit-taking in later part of the day restricted the index gain to 74 points. Overall volume declined to 281 million shares from 338 million shares traded in previous session, while traded value also decreased to Rs13 billion from Rs18 billion.
