KARACHI: The bullish trend helped the Pakistan Stock Exchange gain mammoth 623.91 points to take the tally to near the psychological barrier of 36,000 as benchmark 100-index reached 35941.47 points level at closing.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 35971.66 points and lowest level of 35317.56 points, with the volume of 251 million shares, having about Rs16 billion value. As many as 367 companies were active; of which 186 advanced, 154 declined and 27 remained unchanged.
Technology & communication was the top traded sector with 31,428,500 volume, while cement remained second with 30,150,700 volume.
The three top traded companies were PTCL XD with a volume of 17,202,000 and price per share of 15.47 (0.57), Sui North Gas with a volume 16,656,500 of price per share of 34.46 (0.21), Pak Elektron with a volume 15,021,500 of price per share of 64.24 (1.52).
The top three gainers were Mari PetroleumXD with price per share 842.57 (40.12), Bata (Pak) XD with price per share of 3400 (30) and Lucky Cement price per share of 604.21 (27.08).
The top three losers were Rafhan Maize SPOT with price per share of 9000 (-99.67), Philip Morris Pak with price per share of 1658.75 (-36.15) and Tandlianwala Sugar per share of 221.88 (-11.67).
Earlier, the Pakistan Stock Exchange started keeping bullish trend and gained huge 407.29 points to reach 35724.85 points level in early trading. The bullish trend continued till midday as the PSE gained 424.16 points to reach 35741.72 points level/
On Wednesday, the benchmark KSE 100 index shot past the 35,000 key resistances with a high of over 500 points. The index landed at 35,410.23 after a frog leap of 420 points. Highlight of the day included the massive jump in market volumes. Total volumes for Wednesday’s session stood at 27.9 million with 209 scripts in the green and 143 in the red. The technology and communications sector was top traded with Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTC) in the lead. The sector was a blend of gainers and losers. Pak Datacom (PAKD), Systems Limited (SYS) and TRG Pakistan Limited (TRG) closed positive while Avanceon Limited (AVN), Hum Network Limited (HUMNL) and NetSol Technologies (NETSOL) closed down.
