PSX closes bearish losing 69pts

KARACHI: Opened with positive note, the Pakistan Stock Exchange dropped all the gains in last session as the benchmark 100-index lost 68.53 points to drop to 39188.47 points level at closing.

The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 39415.25 points and lowest level of 39146.45 points, with the volume of over 199.79 million shares, having about Rs 13.63 billion value. As many as 334 companies were active; of which 188 advanced, 126 declined and 20 remained unchanged.

Technology and communication was the top traded sector with 24,900,500 volume, while cement remained second with 22,950,100 volume

TRG Pak Ltd was the volume leader with 15.79 million shares, gaining Rs 0.69 to finish at Rs 35.33. It was followed by Dewan Motors with 12.39 million shares, gaining Rs 1.00 to close at Rs 16.95 and Sui North Gas with 12.13 million shares, gaining Rs 0.10 to close at Rs 40.55.

The top three gainers were Indus Motor Co with price per share 1100 (48.60), Indus Dyeing with price per share of 544 (25.90) and Service Ind.Ltd price per share of 875 (18).

The top three losers were Pak Tobacco with price per share of 1173.26 (-61.75), Ghandhara Ind with price per share of 447.24 (-23.53) and Murree Brewery per share of 672 (-21.62).

Earlier, the PSX opened adding 94 points to reach 39350.86 points level in early trading. The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed some fluctuation in trading but remained in positive note as benchmark KSE 100-index added 73.39 points to reach 39330.39 points level till midday.

On Thursday, positivity prevailed for the fourth consecutive session at Pakistan Stock Exchange as the 100-share index surged by 207.54 points to close at the fresh all-time high level of 39,257 points. HBL (up 2.80%) led the banking sector and was the biggest index mover of the day. The pharmaceutical sector continued its positive trajectory.

Main gainers of the aforementioned sector were GLAXO (up 5.00%) and ABOT (4.13%). The automobile sector remained positive on the back of sales surging 20% YoY where HCAR (up 4.65%) rallied. Volumes decreased by 16.3% to 165m shares as compared to 196m shares of the previous day, while value decreased by 23.6% to Rs 11.6b/$111m. DCL was the volume leader with 13.7m shares traded.
