KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Wednesday witnessed fluctuation in trading over profit-taking and closed flat adding just 1.11 points to reach 36266.23 points level.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 36412.23 points and lowest level of 36231.58 points, with the volume of 301 million shares, having over Rs12 billion value. As many as 354 companies were active; of which 163 advanced, 159 declined and 32 remained unchanged.
Technology & communication was the top traded sector with 47,638,500 volume, while cement remained second with 45,234,200 volume.
The three top traded companies were TRG Pak Ltd with a volume of 37,246,500 and price per share of 37.01 (1.38), Dewan Cement with a volume 36,463,500 of price per share of 16.50 (0.13), K-Electric Ltd with a volume 28,960,500 of price per share of 7.43 (0.15).
The top three gainers were Rafhan MaizeXD with price per share 8895 (395), Nestle Pak XD with price per share of 7159 (99) and Siemens Pak price per share of 1034.49 (29.47).
The top three losers were Bata (Pak)XD with price per share of 3400 (-100), Pak TobaccoXD with price per share of 1243.89 (-65.46) and Colgate Palmo per share of 1480 (-44).
Earlier, despite losing most of the early gains, the Pakistan Stock Exchange remained in positive note as benchmark 100-inded added 1.11 points to reach 36266.23points level till midday.
On Tuesday, the stocks market closed almost flat but maintained its all-time high level. Investor interest was seen in the cement sector with Dewan Cement (up 5.7 percent), Cherat Cement (rising 2.3 percent) and Lucky Cement (increasing 1.5 percent). The Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) benchmark 100-share Index closed up 30.13 points, or 0.08 percent, to 36,265.12 points. The highest index of the day was 36,340.47 points and the lowest level was recorded at 36,037.02 points. Turnover increased eight million shares to 281.46 million shares. Trading value decreased to Rs11.89 billion from Rs12.84 billion and the market capital fell to Rs7.43 trillion from Rs7.44 trillion. Of a total of 371 companies, 183 closed up, 165 ended down and 23 remained unchanged.
