KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange Tuesday lost 41,000 mark after losing 489.27 points to drop to 40610.72 points level.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 41112.27 points and lowest level of 40287.26 points, with the volume of over 184 million shares and value of Rs6.50 billion. As many as 367 companies were active; of which 73 advanced,273 declined and 21 remained unchanged.
K-Electric was the volume leader with 76.70 million shares, shedding Rs0.52 to reach Rs6.40. It was followed by TRG Pak Ltd with 7.67 million shares, losing Rs0.05 to end at Rs34.48 and JS Bank Ltd with 6.10 million shares, adding Rs0.04 to close at Rs7.99.
The top three gainers were Island Textile with price per share of 989.95 (46.75), Khyber Tobacco with price per share of 970.17 (46.19) and Siemens Pak of 750 (17.83).
The top three losers were Nestle Pakistan with price per share of 12899 (-101), Sanofi-Aventis with price per share of 1660.40 (-65.60) and Wyeth Pak Ltd share of 1711.50 (-63.50).
Earlier, the PSX started day on negative note and shed 95 points to reach 41005 points level in early trading. The stocks shed another 542 points to drop to 40558 points level till midday.
Yesterday, the stocks commenced trading week with bearish trend, as trading at the local bourse remained dull and the 100-index closed at 41,100 points after shedding 213 points.
Index point losers were MARI (down 4.7%), SNGP (4.2%), FFC (2.2%), LUCK (1.6%) & KTML (4.4%), eroding 115 points; while PSEL (up 4.5%), HBL (0.3%), UBL (0.8%), POL (1.3%) & INIL (2.8%) added 112 points. Sector wise; cement failed to sustain Friday’s momentum & erased 49 points, fertilizer shed 39 points, despite of textile package sector shed 28 points. Similarly, OMCs were down 26 points as SNGP outweighed. Banks added 18 points led by interest in HBL & UBL.
Average value traded settled at Rs6.1b/USD58m, down 29% DoD, likewise average volume were down by 17% DoD to 123m shares. Symbols of total 383 active companied traded in the session of which 272 closed in decline, 92 in advance while 19 remained unchanged.
