Senator Mohsin says KP Investment Road Show in Dubai attracted foreign investors

PESHAWAR: Newly elected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Mohsin Aziz Khan claimed to have received unprecedented response from foreign investors in the Investment Road Show in Dubai, as Rs 1.2 billion foreign investment has been received in the road show.

Talking to Custom Today, Mohsin Aziz said in order to enhance the economic activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), first time in the history of Pakistan a road show by the KP government was held in Dubai, which received appreciation from people and World Bank officials.

He added that after appointment as the head of Board of Investment, he reorganised and re-established the board from start to increase its efficiency for the economic growth of the province. “For development and industrialisation, we are not sector-specific, rather we are trying to be project-specific,” he maintained.

“We started the oil refinery project, which is in the final stages of completion at Karak, and within the next six months we have planned to start more development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which will also create job opportunities for the people in the region,” he determined.

Mohsin Aziz completed his early education from Cadet College and got technical management training from Japan and after that he stepped into the business world by establishing a matchbox factory in 1975.

To run such a huge business and more than 10 factories, Mohsin Aziz revealed that he fixed priorities and made struggle to run the business, adding that he hired professional managerial staff to achieve the set tasks and targets.

In order to lessen the burden of work after elected as a senator, Mohsin Aziz resigned from the ZTBL and five other boards, as Aziz intended to contribute to the welfare of society.

Mohsin Aziz started his journey in politics at the chamber of commerce-level, and he was elected the president of then Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry) for the period 1987-1988

Later on, he was assigned charges of acting provincial minister for industries, commerce, labour, mineral development, technical education and manpower during the Musharraf government. Mohsin Aziz is the nephew of well-known Bollywood Star Dalip Kumar.

Mohsin Aziz also plans to start an SOS school village for deserving students to provide standard education in affordable fee – not more than Rs 300 to Rs 400. “The student will get education from basic to intermediate levels. Around 600 girls and 600 boys will get education at the school village.”

Mohsin Aziz is the chairman of Aziz Group of Industries, AJ Textile Mills Ltd, Mohsin Match Factory, Mohsin Enterprises, Premier Formica Industries, AJ Match, and proprietor of Aziz Ice Factory and Cold Storage.

Beside factories, Mohsin Aziz is the chairman of All Pakistan Match Manufacturers Association, life member of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, vice chairman of Board of Investment and Trade, member of Management Board Lady Reading Hospital and a member of Board of Directors Zarai Taraqiati Bank.

Mohsin Aziz was ex-director of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), ex-chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), ex-director of Central Bank of Directors State Bank of Pakistan and Habib Bank of Pakistan.

Mohsin is also running social welfare projects, including Aziz Jan Free Dialysis Centre Peshawar, providing free food to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar since 2006, providing free food to Irnum Hospital Peshawar since 2009, providing free education to 300 students in Aziz Jan Free School and scholarship programme for medical students and Cadet College Kohat students.
