Punjab govt decides to establish small industrial estate in Gujranwala

SIALKOT: The Punjab government has decided to establish small industrial estate No.4 in outskirts of Gujranwala city for shifting the growing industries from Gujranwala city to there.

According to Gujranwala Assistant Commissioner Malik Arif Ullah Awan, the government has allocated the special funds of Rs.637 million for acquiring the required 195 acres land to establish small industrial estate near Puran Pur and Keraan Wala (in out skirts of Gujranwala city), saying that the process of land acquiring would be completed within the next couple of days for this mega project.

He said that the commercial and industrial plots measuring 10, 3, 2 and 1 kanals will available there for the local industrialists to establish their industrial units there, saying that this small industrial estate would have the capacity of establishing 1000 cottage industries there.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also chalked out a five-year plan for developing the small industrial estate Wazirabad, where as many as 182 commercial and industrial plots (worth of Rs. 114.5 million) have been sold out, as the government would also issue the soft term industrial development loans to the local industrialists in a bid to boom up the local industries in Wazirabad.

According to Pakistan Cutlery Association Chairman Khalid Mehmood Mughal, the small industrial estate is being established on 63 acres of land near Wazirabad along the main Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road by the Punjab government, as this land has been divided into 292 different sized industrial plots (worth of Rs. 150 million), out of which as many as 182 plots (worth of Rs.114.5 million) have been sold to the local willing industrialists.

He said that the Punjab government would ensure early investment of Rs. 1 billion in small industrial estate Wazirabad under its five-year long industrial development plan, out of which the different development works (worth of Rs. 160 million) would be started in 2016, saying that as many as 6000 male and female workers would get employment opportunities in this small industrial estate, as this project would soon be inaugurated by the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to establish a strong industrial base in Wazirabad and its surroundings as well
