Punjab govt to provide crates for vegetable export

MULTAN: The Punjab government will provide vegetable crates for their safe export to other areas.

Executive District Officer Agriculture Shafqat Bhatti addressed a meeting of vegetable growers that the government would distribute 1,000 vegetable crates initially to promote and enhance the quality of vegetables. He announced that registered vegetable growers would be given the first priority in the distribution of vegetable crates.

He said that the Punjab government would bear 80 percent cost of the crates and 20 percent would pay the vegetable retailer.

He said that the distribution of the crates will be transparent and the purpose of distributing vegetable crates would promote the cultivation of vegetables at commercial scale.

The step would help vegetable growers to bring their vegetables in the market from vegetable land to market in a safe way and it would keep vegetables more safe and clean in the way, he said.
