Punjab Revenue Authority to start intelligence network in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Revenue Authority is going to start its own intelligence network will work on the pattern of Customs intelligence which is showing good performance to control smuggling and other illegal businesses.

Sources told Customs Today, that the Punjab government has decided to establish an intelligence network just like intelligence network of Pakistan Customs to dig out tax evaders.

Punjab Revenue Authority is facing huge revenue shortfall because companies are not listed and their owners are not ready to submit sales tax. Now the government has decided to provide support to PRA to establish a network which will work to search the tax evaders in the province.

Sources further told that Punjab Revenue Authority will get financial assistance from World Bank in this regard. Work on the project has started and it will be start in current fiscal year sources said.

According to PRA officials project will increase the revenue of the department and tax evasion will be difficult for the producers, manufacturers and service providers as well as service sector is a biggest tax evader in Pakistan.
