DOHA: Qatar Exchange (QE) index lost 127.46 points, or 1.28 percent, during the past trading week after the bourse closed at 9,813.96 points yesterday. On the daily basis the exchange declined 195.99 points, or 1.96 percent yesterday.
Trading value during the week decreased by 4.04 percent to reach QR1.3bn compared to QR1.4bn. Market capitalisation fell by 1.31 percent to reach QR528bn compared to QR535bn at the end of previous week. Trading volume increased by 8.50 percent to reach 43 million shares, as against 39.7 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 8.67 percent, to reach 22,522 transactions as compared to 24,661 transactions.
Industries sector led traded value this week with 36.61 percent of the total traded value and Banks and Financial Services sector accounted for 28.32 percent. Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 11.77 percent and Telecoms sector accounted 10.90 percent. Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume this week with 31.96 percent of the total traded volume while Industries sector accounted for 29.13 percent. Telecoms sector accounted for 19.25 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 7.77 percent.
Industries sector led traded number of transactions this week with 30.06 percent of the total number of transactions. Banking and Financial Services sector accounted for 25.05 percent. Telecoms sector accounted for 17.48 percent and Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 10.96 percent. From the 44 listed companies 12 ended this week higher, while 30 fell and two unchanged.
Gulf International Services led traded value during this week accounted for 22.51 percent of the total traded value. Masraf Al Rayan accounted for 9.61 percent and Vodafone Qatar accounted for 6.39 percent.
The volume of shares was down to 7.3 million from Wednesday’s 8.1 million and the value of shares decreased to QR230m from QR235m on Wednesday.
From the 44 companies listed on QE, shares of 42 saw trading yesterday. From these 2 gained, 37 closed lower and three remained unchanged. Indices of all sectors ended in the red yesterday.
