Qatar exchange index grows 3.49% to 345.80 points in past week

DOHA: Qatar Exchange index gained 345.80 points, or 3.49 percent, during the past week when the bourse closed yesterday at 10,258.72 points. Trading value during the week decreased by 25.94 percent to QR956.74m compared to QR1.29bn recorded during the previous week.

Trading volume decreased by 11.38 percent to reach 27,951,821 shares, as against 31,542,279 shares, while the number of transactions fell by 17.48 percent, to reach 15,555 transactions as compared to 18,850 transactions.

Market cap rose by 3.14 percent to reach about QR541.60bn as compared to QR525.09bn at the end of previous week.

Banking and financial services sector led traded value during the week with 35.89 percent of the total. Industries sector accounted for 29.23 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 11.84 percent and consumer goods and services sector accounted for 8.14 percent.

Banking and financial services sector led traded volume the trading week with 24.38 percent of the total traded volume. Real estate sector accounted for 19.97 percent. Industries sector accounted for 9.31 percent and telecoms sector accounted for 16.41 percent, reported QNA.

Banking and financial services sector led traded number of transactions with 26.62 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 25.98 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 15.48 percent and telecoms sector accounted for 14.25 percent.

From 43 listed companies 33 ended during the week higher, while four fell and six unchanged.

Gulf International Services led trading value during the week accounted for 18.38 percent of the total. Masraf Al Rayan accounted for 10.32 percent and QNB accounted for 7.89 percent.

When compared on daily basis, the index gained 41.53 points, or 0.43 percent, when the bourse closed trading at 10,258.72 points yesterday.

The daily turnover decreased to QR229.89m with a volume of 6,270,071 shares from 3,797 deals compared with QR175.48m with a volume of 5,391,665 shares from 5,183 deals on Wednesday.

Indices of six sectors ended in the green and one sector ended in red yesterday, while telecom sector index gained 1.21 percent to 947.85 points. Insurance index increased 1.17 percent to 4,168.92 points.

QE Total Return Index gained 0.41 percent when it closed at 15,945.71 points yesterday.

QE Al Rayan Islamic Index closed 0.11 percent to 3,798.82 points. QE All Share Index up 0.38 percent to 2,732.50 points.
