DOHA: The total value of Qatar’s monthly exports of goods (including re-exports) in October 2015 stood at QR22.6bn (about $6.21bn), up by 6.7 percent compared to the previous month, preliminary figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics show.
When compared to the corresponding month last year, year-on-year (y-o-y) exports in October 2015 declined by 33.3 percent.
On other hand, the imports of goods in October 2015 amounted to QR10.4bn (about $2.86bn), showing an increase of 8.5 percent over October 2014.
However, on a month-on-month (m-o-m) basis the imports increased by 14.1 percent.
In October 2015, the foreign merchandise trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and imports, showed a surplus of QR12.2bn (about $3.35bn), a decrease of QR12.1bn (about $3.42bn), or 49.7 percent, compared to October 2014, according to the Ministry.
However, the trade balance of goods in October 2015 increased by QR1.3bn (about $357m), or 1.1 percent, compared to September 2015, due to increase in export revenues.
