Qatar, Kazakhstan ready to boost investments

DOHA: H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, underscored the need for Qatar and Kazakhstan’s need to boost bilateral investments.

After co-chairing the fourth session of the Qatari and Kazakh joint committee with Kazakh Minister of National Economy Yerbolat Dossayev, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim underlined the strong bilateral relations and the need to exert more joint effort to develop them in various commercial and investment fields. The joint committee was held in Doha on October 18 and 19, QNA reported.

Institute of Internal Auditors hold workshop on ‘systems thinking’

A statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday said that the meeting of this committee comes within the framework of expanding and strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister in his speech at the opening of the ministerial meeting said that great capabilities and potentials enjoyed by the two countries can help in achieving more in terms of increasing trade exchange and mutual investment between them through promoting relations between the private sectors and businessmen in both sides to play a greater role and enter into strategic partnerships and successful investment.

The existence of regular flights is one of the important mechanisms to raise the rate and volume of trade exchange and stimulate the private sector in the two countries, he added, pointing out that the State of Qatar pursues a flexible and multi-faceted economic strategy based on the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim said that Qatar has managed to increase its GDP by an average of 10 percent per annum between 2009 -2014, bringing GDP to $200bn in 2014, adding that the country’s economy has become one of the fastest growing economies in the world growth at a rate of 4.1 percent in 2014, surpassing the estimated 2.8 percent global growth rate. The Minister hoped that this meeting will help in concluding many agreements between the business sector in both countries, and that these agreements translate into successful projects for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries.

He also thanked the meeting’s participants for their effort in the completion of some agreements and memoranda of understanding to be signed during the upcoming visit by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Doha.

During the two-day meeting, the two sides reviewed cooperation in economic, trade and investment fields and other related areas, including energy, civil aviation, sports, culture, agriculture and tourism. They agreed to take steps to develop economic relations and increase the volume of trade exchange, including facilitating the flow of goods, services and investments between the two countries.
