DOHA: atar is on a fresh drive to woo the UK’s financial community, marketing itself as the “Wall Street of the Middle East” at roadshows across the country as it spruces up its image ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), a government institution set up in 2005, will wrap up its first week of UK roadshows in Edinburgh on Tuesday as it tries to lure banks and other British financial services firms.
Having already pitched to audiences in London and Manchester, the QFC is expected to highlight the country’s “compelling tax regime” and “transparent legal and regulatory environment” to Scottish businesses this week.
