DOHA: Qatari food products will soon be displayed at the global level as local companies are set to take part in world’s largest food innovation exhibition.

Around 14 companies from Qatar will attend ‘SIAL 2016’, an international food exhibition that will take place in Paris, from Sunday. The exhibition will help local companies to expand their presence overseas and increase their competitiveness.

The five-day exhibition is expected to attract key businessmen, decision-makers and investors in the food and beverage industry from across the world.

“QDB is dedicated to partaking in all local and international commercial activities that will help Qatar’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to strengthen their capacity to achieve growth and mature to a level at which they can independently compete on a global level in future. We are confident in the capabilities of local companies, which have attained distinctive success across marketplaces internationally in the past,” added Al Khalifa.

SIAL is a global trade fair that connects professionals in the agri-food industry by facilitating the meeting of potential buyers and suppliers through exhibitions that take place in different cities.

Qatar Flour Mills, Qatar Tunisian Food Company, Qatar Meat Production and other Qatari companies will participate in the exhibition.

“QDB’s export arm, Tasdeer, strongly supported this initiative due to our ambition to open new markets to Qatar’s local food producers. This year, we will participate in SIAL Paris by hosting a pavilion featuring 14 local companies, who wish to expand their operations abroad and increase their competitiveness,” said Hassan Khalifa Al Mansoori, Executive Director, Tasdeer, QDB.

“During the last 10 years, these Qatari food manufacturers have developed a stellar reputation and we hope to unlock their global commercial potential through our participation at the upcoming exhibition,” he added.
