SHINGHAI: Qoros will unveil its new 2 PHEV compact SUV concept at Shanghai Auto Show. The new concept was initially teased in a single sketch earlier, although no details had been offered at the time.
Now, a series of new teaser images deliver a more revealing look at the Qoros 2, which could soon join the existing Qoros 3 range in China and Europe.
The new images reveal that while the 2 concept will appear similar to the larger Qoros 3 through the body, it will wear an all-new look at the front and rear.
Slender new Cadillac-like headlights hook back into the front guards, with hooped LED daytime lights that extend through to bezels in the lower bumper.
The company’s family grille design is also further refined in the 2 concept, now larger and reaching down to a second intake below the number plate.
The lighting theme continues at the rear, with narrow LED tail lamps extending up and forward into the rear quarter panels.
A large hand grab dominates the centre of bulging tailgate, above a pair of exhaust tips positioned at each corner. Fog lights and faux vents flank at either side.
Qoros has also revealed that the 2 concept will be powered by a plug-in hybrid system.
Full details are still to come, although it has confirmed that the system will include an electric motor at the rear axle to provide all-wheel-drive.
Similar technology features in the Lexus NX 300h and the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, while Subaru and Honda have also showcased technologies that operate along the same lines.
