Quetta customs confiscates jet printers, cameras

KARACHI: The Quetta customs collector has seized 100 foreign origin printers and handy cameras during two successful raids.

Deputy Collector Jahanzaib Abbasi received information that a huge quantity of laser jet printers were being smuggled from out of the Quetta city. The suspects wanted to smuggle commercial use printers to Hyderabad for onward supply to Karachi.

The deputy collector formed an anti-smuggling team and told them about the received information. The team comprising Preventive official Ishaq Abbasi, Inspector Shoaib Ali and others formed check points at the exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles.

During the checking of the vehicles the team intercepted a suspicious truck. While the searching of the truck the team found more than 500 commercial jet printers. The team asked the driver about the customs duty clearance documents but he remained failed to satisfy the officials. The team seized the items and truck while two persons were arrested who were involved in smuggling.

In another operation the customs intelligence has seized non-duty paid handy cameras. According to received information by collector the customs intelligence team raided at Hali Road shop. During the search of the shop the officials recovered more than 300 cameras of Canon and Toshiba. The team seized the cameras but no one arrested at the tea of action. The Customs officials told that the value of seized cameras is more than Rs1.8 million.
