QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs100 million in wee hours of May 25, 2024,
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Tahir Ali Qureshi received credible information about smuggling of goods via Ziarat Check Post.
He immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Inspector Nazeer Kurd. A heavily armed group of 7-8 individuals including Selab Khan and Imran (Fauji), opened fire in an effort to escort four trucks loaded with illicit goods through the checkpoint.
Customs anti-smuggling staff also prevented the smugglers from absconding with an additional eight trucks that were en route from Quetta.
Despite a detailed examination of the adjacent tracks, no vehicles were found.
Chief Collector Yaqoob Mako lauded the outstanding performance of customs staff to curb smuggling of goods in the jurisdiction.
An FIR has been filed against the fugitive smugglers, Selab Khan and Imran Fauji.
Further investigations are still in progress till the filing of this report , with Selab Khan identified as the brother of the notorious smuggler Sadiq Sadozai.
