Quetta Customs gears up efforts to curb smuggling

QUETTA: Customs Collectorate enhanced checking on main routes of the city and due to these strict measures customs authorities foiled many attempts of smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today that during two separate operations customs teams seized huge quantity of non duty paid LEDs and other different electronic goods. Sources said that Collector Quetta Customs Saeed Jadoon received credible information that some smugglers were trying to smuggle huge quantity of LEDs and other electronic items. He immediately constituted customs team comprising Inspector Ismail Rind, Shabbir Ahmed, Nazeer Khan, Mumtaz Jamil, Musarrat Shah and Kamran Faisal.

3,000 Iran-bound containers stranded at Karachi port as Hormuz tensions disrupt shipping

The above said customs team established checking points at main entry and exit points of Mastung. During checking of vehicles customs team intercepted a truck bearing registration no: BL-6754. During checking customs team recovered 60 LEDs and 42 TV sets. Customs team asked the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Sabir Ali and companion Ali Reza to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these goods but they remained failed to provide any relevant documents.

After their failure Customs team arrested the accused and registered a case of smuggling against them. Sources said that the case is being forwarded to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.

During another action Quetta Customs team recovered huge quantity of computer accessories. Sources told that Anti Smuggling Organization team raided on a shop located in Bara Market and recovered computer accessories. The owner of the shop failed to show any relevant documents regarding possession of the computer accessories. The ASO team seized the goods and registered a case against owner of the shop.
