Quetta Customs impounded 24 vehicles in October

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate, Quetta has launched crackdown against non-duty paid vehicles and impounded 24 vehicles during various raids in October.

Customs officials told Customs Today that during the operation Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded 24 luxury vehicles included cars and Jeeps during the month of October. On the special directions of Deputy Collector Aman Ullah the ASO team raided at various vehicles showrooms and impounded non-duty paid vehicles.

With the joint operations of Quetta police and customs staff the team raided at various showrooms and impounded non-duty paid vehicles. The team raided in the areas of Jinnah Town, Shehbaz Town, airport and others areas of the city. Deputy Collector said that the crackdown started before two month and the performance of the department was positive during previous. He also said that the operation will continue during this month.

Tax recovery:

Customs Exports recovered Rs 100,000 and Rs 96,000 respectively from two companies which are located in rural Sindh. Both companies found involved in tax evasion.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Export issued a show cause notice to the management of M/s Shams Associates, directing them to deposit evaded tax amount at the earliest. While the same kind of notice was issued to M/s Hudabia Textile Mills which is located in Kund Yaro. Sources said that during the scrutiny of the import data it was revealed that both companies imported various consignments of garments and plastic material by using wrong PCT heading.

Sources said that these companies also availed undue benefits and concessions by using SRO 566. After detecting tax evasion both companies were directed to deposit evaded amount of taxes within seven days otherwise stern legal action will be taken against these companies. After receiving the final show cause notice both companies paid the outstanding amount of taxes.

Sources said that Customs Exports also issued notice to M/s Taloot and Sons. The company imported consignment of raw material and availed undue benefits. The customs authorities sought explanation from the company within seven days.
