KARACHI: Quetta Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has started the crackdown to curb smuggling and seize non-duty paid vehicles. In this regard, the customs officials have impounded eight luxury cars during the last five days.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded two luxury jeeps during two successful raids. Director Customs Intelligence Imtiaz Ahmed Khan received information that two jeeps were supplied to out of city. Consequently, he formed a Customs Intelligence team to act against non-duty paid luxury vehicles.The team started checking of vehicles and intercepted a suspicious truck. During the search of the truck the team found two luxury jeeps which were being supplied to Mirpur Khas. The Customs team impounded the vehicles and arrested two persons who were involved in smuggling. The officials said that the estimated value of impounded vehicles is more than Rs 7 million.
In another operation, the Customs Intelligence has seized a huge quantity of computer printers. Director Customs Intelligence received information from reliable sources smuggled computers were supplied to out of city. He formed a team under the supervision of deputy collector to curb the smuggling. Deputy director formed check posts at the exit point of the city at started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a truck. While the search the team recovered 50 HP laser jet printers. The customs team seized the items and arrested two persons who were involved in smuggling. The estimated value of seized printers is more than 2 million.
