Quetta Customs Intelligence seizes NDP Iranian dinner sets, kitchen accessories, floor tiles

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta confiscated a large number of non-duty-paid dinner sets, kitchen accessories and Iranian floor tiles worth Rs5.26million on Saturday morning.

The sources told reporter that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta Iran Javed received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle said items into Pakistan.

He immediately constituted a raiding team. The team enhanced the vigilance on Mastung City Road and started a search operation of the vehicles. The team intercepted a 20-ft container bearing registration No: SLK-629 Container No: RTKJ-89923 registered with Sukkur Division which was heading out of the city.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 70 dinner sets (72 Pieces), 100 items of different kitchen accessories and 300 boxes of different kinds of Iranian tiles worth Rs5.26million. The customs arrested five persons aboard the vehicle who were later identified as Driver Samman Khan, Kamran Razzaq, Waris Shah and two other unidentified.

It is to mention here that the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta impounded a large number of smuggling items including non-duty-paid cigarettes, 100 cartons of plastic dana, 16 NDP luxury vehicles, electronic items, digital cameras, kitchen accessories, computer accessories, hashish and so many other things worth Rs42.98million in the month of October.
