Quetta Customs posts 112pc growth in collection of customs duty in 1Q of FY21

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs collected Rs914.92 million under the head of customs duty against the assigned target of Rs282 million for the month of October, 2020

According to the details, during July-October, 2020 the Collectorate collected Rs2.3 billion against previous year collection of Rs2.049 billion during corresponding period of the financial year 2019-20 registering growth of 112 percent.

The above mentioned growth has been made through the following administrative measures;

  1. i) Plugging loop holes in the clearance procedures at Dry Ports and Custom Houses.
  2. ii) Active liaison with the trade bodies and Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Quetta and Chaman.

iii) Review of valuation of goods imported from Iran and Afghanistan.

  1. iv) Creation of Vigilance Cell in the Collectorate to monitor and to obviate chances of mis-declaration.
  2. v) Enhanced trade facilitation at all Customs stations and Dry Ports.
  3. vi) Shifting all imports at Chaman and Taftan to WeBOC from the primitive system of One Customs.

Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance and Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation, Quetta efforts are lauded as due to their affective anti-smuggling and anti-enforcement drive, the traders are diverting towards legal regime.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Quetta has remained on the front in facilitating the legal trade and business and also supported all the right steps taken by MCC, Quetta.
