QUETTA: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Quetta confiscated 15,000 liters of smuggling Iranian diesel at Lakpass Customs Check-Post while using a transshipment advice issued by the M/s PSO for transporting PMG to cover illegal activity.

According to details explained by Ashraf Ali, Collector, Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Quetta, that, acting upon a tip-off shared by sources of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Quetta, some unscrupulous elements would attempt to smuggle diesel in the grab of transporting imported premium motor gasoline (PMG).
The Collector MCC Quetta told Customs Today that the ASO Quetta intercepted an oil tanker at Lakpass Customs Check-Post. The tanker was carrying 15,000 liter smuggling Iranian diesel. The smugglers were caught when they were tampering the seals of the tanker for filling the contraband diesel and tried to use transshipment advice issued by M/s Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for transporting of PMG. In order to cover their illegal activities, Ashraf Ali told CT that necessary action has been initiated against the traffickers and a case forwarded to the Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department for further action.
Ashraf Ali said that, during the mid of February FY17-18, the ASO Quetta, with the assistance of Frontier Crops (FC), impounded 120,000 liters of high speed diesel (HSD) from three oils tanks. The total value of the high speed smuggling diesel along with the oil tankers was estimated at Rs15million from three dumping grounds. A criminal case was registered against the smugglers.
