Quetta Customs seizes Iranian diesel & 100 luxury tyres worth Rs02.3m

QUETTA: The Customs Intelligence and Investigations Quetta continued its action against the smuggling in the current month. The Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta, during a crackdown on smuggling, seized 18,000 liters of Iranian diesel valued Rs01.3million. The diesel was set to be smuggled into different cities of Pakistan.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Junaid Mehmood received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian diesel from Quetta into different cities of Pakistan.

He immediately constituted a raiding team. The team enhanced the vigilance in the area of Highway and started the search of vehicles. After some time, the team stopped an oil tanker with registration No: BS-8258, and started checking. During the search, a Custom Officer found the said diesel without documents. The team also impounded the truck and apprehended two diesel traffickers.

During another crackdown, a Customs Quetta team confiscated 100 luxury tubeless tyres. Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Junaid Mehmood received a tip-off about the smuggling of said item. He immediately constituted a team and raided a house of the Bostan area and recovered said number of tyres. The value of the seizure is Rs01million. Two smugglers were also held.
