Quetta Customs seizes non duty paid goods worth Rs6.20m on Tuesday

QUETTA: The Customs Collectorate has impounded different type of fabrics include (Indian silk, Irani bed sheets and Valvet fabrics worth more than Rs 6.20 million on Tuesday.

Sources told Customs Today, that on the directives of the Deputy Collector Gwadar Junaid Mehmood , operation against smuggled items and non-duty paid luxury vehicles is going on in full swing and several raids have been conducted during previous month of  November and operation of smuggled items is still going on during current month of December.

Sources told that on Tuesday morning deputy collector Gwadar constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Mushahid Ali and others. The team, during a search operation on Gwadar Road, intercepted a truck bearing registration GL 6245 which was going out of the city.

During the raids, the customs team impounded 100 thaan of Indian Silk, 200 set of Iranian bed sheets and pillow cover and 2,000 meters of Valvet fabrics worth Rs 6.20 million.

The customs team arrested two smugglers who were involved in smuggling and registered an FIR against the accused persons and started investigations.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Collectorate has impounded different kinds of Iranian juices and Iranian non duty paid carpet worth more than Rs6.50 million on 11th December and different type of computer accessories worth more than Rs4.26 million, included 50 LED flat screen monitors, 25 laptop Acer brand,500 (4GB Laptop Ram) and huge quantity of data cables hard wire worth 4.26 during the first week of December.
