Quetta I&I foils bid to smuggle electronics items worth Rs6.22m

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle electronics items worth Rs 6.22 million during special checking on Wednesday afternoon.

Sources told Customs Today that Quetta Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tipoff that some smugglers were trying to smuggle non-custom paid electronics accessories out of Quetta.

He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Kazim Rizvi, Muhammad Iftikhar Aiwan (Preventive department) and others. The team enhanced the surveillance near Qilla Saifullah Road and started searching vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted a truck bearing registration No: QBB-8702 which was going out of Quetta. During the checking, the customs team recovered 200 non-duty paid juicer blenders (Malaysian made) 100 piece of 1.5 ton split air conditioners and its parts worth Rs 6.22 million. The customs team seized all electronics accessories and arrested 2 smugglers. Source said that FIR will be lodged after completion of interrogations from arrested persons.
