QUETTA: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle Iranian diesel worth Rs 8 million during special checking on Friday.
Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian diesel out of Quetta.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Rizwan Ali Khan, Zahid Hussain and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on Quetta Highway and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration no: QBS-8933 which was going outside of Quetta. During the checking, the customs team recovered 22,000 liters Iranian diesel worth Rs8 million including truck being used in smuggling. The customs team seized all Iranian diesel and truck used in smuggling, arrested two smugglers.
Sources said current raid is the part of crackdown against Iranian diesel, announced by Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Chaudhary.
