Quetta I&I impounds vehicle loaded with smuggled goods worth Rs6m

QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs team seized different kinds of tyres, vehicle paints and polish worth Rs6 million including vehicle being used for smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today on 14.2.2019 that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non-customs paid tyres and other accessories from Quetta to Karachi.

After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Abid Ibraheem , Sami Yousuf and others. The team during a search operation on Highway intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no: TKD-9578.

During the search, the team impounded more than 100 sets of tyres (1X2) 500 box or vehicle paints and a quantity of Rubbing Polish and other accessories worth Rs 6 million including truck being used in smuggling.

The team seized all the smuggled items and arrested 2 smugglers. Sources told that customs officials started investigations from the accused persons.
