QUETTA: The Regional Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) has seized smuggled and non-duty paid goods and vehicles worth over Rs140 million during the first ten days of January 2024.
Sources told Customs Today that the seized items include six cars of different models, 8000 liters of Iranian diesel, Rs54 million worth of crockery made of ceramic and glassware, and 45,000 kilograms of betel nuts.
The directorate said that the successful operations were conducted under the supervision of Nadeem Memon, Director of I&I Quetta, and with the assistance of Usman Aziz Sab, Deputy Director, and Hanif Kurd, Intelligence Officer. The directorate also acknowledged the guidance and support of Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General of I&I Islamabad, who provided credible information to the Quetta I&I.
The directorate said that it is determined to curb the menace of smuggling and protect the national economy from the loss of revenue. It added that further proceedings in the cases have been started as per law.
