LAHORE: The Pakistan Rangers has foil an attempt to bring Indian liquor and weapons into Pakistan at Kailon in Kasur sector.

According to details, in the wee hours of night of between October 27-28, 2016, few suspicious individuals were seen moving towards Pakistan from the other side of the fence. After spotting their moves, vigilant troops of the Punjab Rangers challenged them but they opened fire on the Rangers’ party.

Rangers effectively responded by killing two of the smugglers while two others dropped the contraband items and escaped back to the Indian side. During the search of the area, more than 100 bottles of Indian liquor, weapons and two cell phones were recovered. Dead bodies of the two downed smugglers have been handed over to local authorities for further investigation.

Efforts are underway to find out linkages and break the nexus. Initial clues indicate that the smugglers are able to freely move across fence along international border, which is not possible without the connivance of BSF. It suggests that heroin smuggling towards Indian side through fence is also having similar underhand linkages.

Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) appreciated the swift and affective action by valiant Rangers jawans and reiterated to continue efforts to eradicate this nefarious trade.
