RAWALPINDI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded a truck loaded with smuggled scrape worth Rs 1 million on Thursday.
Additional Director Muhammad Saleem told Customs Today that a truck bearing Registration No JU-2275 was going to Gujranwala from Peshawar was intercepted on Islamabad motorway. The officials checked the vehicle and found scrap.
The officials asked the driver to show documents regarding the legal import of the items but he remained fail to do the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the truck along with scrap under the prevailing customs laws, besides arresting the accused driver.
Meanwhile, the additional director said that intelligence teams have been given special tasks to impound the non-customs paid vehicles causing loss of millions of rupees to national exchequer.
