Rawalpindi excise seals 147 properties; impounds 60 token tax defaulters’ vehicles

RAWALPINDI: Excise and Taxation Department Rawalpindi has sealed 147 commercial and residential properties during last two days for non-payment of property tax, while 60 token tax defaulters’ vehicles were also impounded.

Excise and Taxation department spokesman informed that the department also recovered property tax arrears amounting to Rs 1.4 million during two days. He informed that excise has sealed property in College Road, City Saddar Road, Mohallah Raja Sultan, Satellite Town and other areas of the city.

The Excise and Taxation department during its special campaign, launched on the directive of Excise and Taxation Director Syed Ashiq Hussain, was also checking vehicles in the division and recovering outstanding dues of token tax, he added.

Excise and Taxation Motor Branch impounded 60 vehicles during general holdup against token tax evaders and unregistered vehicles in the city under the supervision of ETO Nazia Javed. As many as 90 vehicles were also challaned. The operation was launched in Civil Line, Pirwadhai, Cantt, Chakari Road and other areas.

As many as 478 vehicles and motorcycles were checked during the operation. The vehicles running on city roads with cancelled registration numbers are also being impounded.

Excise and Taxation department spokesman urged the owners of properties and vehicles to pay their property taxes and vehicles token taxes timely otherwise strict action against the defaulters would be taken under the law.
