Rawalpindi I&I seizes Rs12m of smuggled goods in May

RAWALPINDI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized Rs12 millions of smuggled goods, mobile phones, NDP and offending vehicles in month of May 2019.

According to details told by sources of Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi that during month of May 2019 the I&I Rawalpindi registered 07 number of cases while arrested 01 person and registered one inventory case against smugglers and tax evaders. During month of May 2019, the Anti Smuggling Organization Rawalpindi seized 2 NDP (non duty paid) vehicles worth Rs 2.8 millions while seized 03 offending (vehicles carrying smuggled goods) worth Rs 5.625 million.

The sources further told that during May 2019 the I&I Rawalpindi seized 30 numbers of foreign origin tyres and tubes worth Rs 0.138 million as well as seized 163 numbers of electronic goods worth Rs 1.143 million whereas the customs staff of I&I seized 45 meters of smuggled carpets worth Rs 0.0039 million while I&I seized various kinds of smuggled goods worth Rs 0.830 million. The I&I also seized 873 numbers of foreign origin mobile phones worth Rs 1.566 million.
