Religious Ministry spends over Rs 163m on minorities

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony had spent Rs 163.06 million for protection and maintenance of the worship places of minorities in last three years from Minority Welfare Fund.

According to official sources, the ministry had approved 138 schemes for the repair/renovation/ maintenance and protection of worship places of minorities from Minority Welfare Fund (MWF). According to details, a sum of Rs 61.23 million were spent on completing 44 maintenance of minorities worship places schemes during the financial year 2013-14; 52 schemes of the minority worship places renovation were completed during 2014-15 with the cost of Rs 50.83 million and Rs 51 million were spent on completing 42 renovation schemes of minority worship places during 2015-16.
