ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed has said that deficit of Rs 10 billion out of Rs 48 billion of Pakistan Airlines (PIA) will be recovered by June this year.
He was replying to a calling attention notice jointly moved by MNAs Naeema Kishwar Khan, Asiya Nasir, Molana Muhammad Gohar Shah, Aliya Kamran and Asiya Naz Tanoli regarding non-payment of salary on time to PIA employees.
The minister said that during the past several years the affairs of PIA had become deteriorated due to corruption and mismanagement; however Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced a package for the national airlines to take it out of the crisis.
He said that the government was determined to bring back the lost glory of PIA.
He said that the management of PIA had also been directed to take steps for improving the situation of the airline.
He also clarified that no PIA employee had tendered resignation due to non-payment of salary.
