The PRA took this step because many restaurants are involved in under invoicing and tax evasion. The PRA is preparing a system to have check on all restaurants in elite areas of the cities and sent a proposal of law to Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif for legislation.

According to PRA officials, the department is preparing special software at a cost of Rs500 million that will have the ability to keep scanning the invoices of the restaurants. The PRAL which is an institution of FBR is supporting PRA for this project.

All of the sale invoices issued to the customers will be monitored by the PRA through this system. Devices will be installed in the computers of the restaurants and special vigilant cameras will be installed in the specific areas of the counters. The PRA has sent the proposal to the CM for further legislation.
