Court adjourns bail plea of Amjad Amin allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 500m

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the bail plea of accused Amjad Amin who is allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 500 million. Now the court will hear the case on Tuesday.

The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has already approved the judicial remand of Amjad Amin and he is in jail on judicial trial.

Accused Amjad Amin had been importing containers from China from quite some time. After passage of a considerable period, customs authorities received credible information that accused is involved in mis-declaration of goods.

They said that the accused was not declaring the actual amount of the imported goods. When customs authorities scrutinized his documents, they found a fraud of Rs 500 million in the form of tax and duty evasion.

Now the Court of Nazeer Ahmad Gajana has adjourned the case of bail plea up to 14 July, 2015 for further hearing on Tuesday.
