Gourmet Food granted 60-day stay order in Rs 89.3 million tax evasion case

LAHORE: Gourmet Food is succeeded in getting a stay order in tax evasion case for 60 days. The first stay order was expired on September 11, 2015.

Sources told Customs Today that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) conducted audit of the company and found tax evasion of of Rs 89.3 million.

Gourmet Foods filed an appeal against this audit in Adjudication while on the other hand it had also filed an appeal in the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue Lahore.

The Judicial Member of Tribunal Shahid Iqbal Dhillon heard the case and issued stay order for one month or till the decision of the appeal.

The stay order was expired on September 11, 2015 and after this Gourmet Food demanded another stay from Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal. After hearing the appeal, the Tribunal Member issued stay order again for 60 days.

The stay order issued by the Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal is valid till 16-11-2015.
