KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has urged the media to highlight achievements of the provincial government as Sindh has made progress in every field in the last seven years of PPP rule.
He said this while addressing the journalists during a visit to the Karachi Press Club (KPC).
Highlighting his achievements, he said that the government had established nine universities, including one in Lyari, and was running 52,000 schools. Children in Tharparkar were not dying only of hunger as reported by the media but mostly because of complications at the time of birth, he added.
The chief minister said more medical facilities had been provided in the hospitals of Mirpurkhas, Mithi, Umarkot and Tharparkar where 2,000 patients were treated on daily basis. He said the government had installed biggest reverse osmosis plant of Asia in Mithi and expressed the hope that Thar would not face drought in future.
He recalled the exemplary role played by the KPC for the promotion of democracy and freedom of press and presented a cheque for Rs10 million to office-bearers of the club.
